An architect’s drawing, prepared by Julian Naetzker and Associates, showed what Berglund Chevrolet’s retail automobile complex, to be located on Fluvanna Avenue, would look like when completed in May of 1965. Ground for the complex, which when completed would be the largest of its type in Southwestern New York, was broken September 18.
- In 1989, County Executive John A. Glenzer had adopted a wait-and-see attitude toward legal action threatened by Chautauqua County’s two cities over the issue of user fees at the county landfill. �Someone is always threatening a lawsuit,� Glenzer said in response to a threat of legal action against the county by Dunkirk and Jamestown city officials. The cities were joining forces to revise the user fee schedule that went into effect Oct. 1 for municipal and commercial haulers but wouldn’t apply until Jan. 1, 1990, for individuals who took their garbage to landfills.
